shareI saw and loved the film on the first night it was released in the US. I would say it is more aimed at adults than children considering the subject matter and how dark it actually was. So far it has flopped in limited release (no surprise) because I do not think adults are anyway interested in the film and advertising has been extremely quiet so far.
sharePerhaps not young children, but I think adolescents and up can understand the messages. From an adult perspective I really enjoyed it.
It's too cerebral! We're trying to make a movie here, not a film!
I would say 10+ could understand it fairly well.

Right now, we are alive... And in this moment, I swear... We are infinite.
See, people see this as a bad thing, but in reality, the fact that it doesn't specifically speak to one audience means it has "something for everyone" to appreciate... How can that be a bad thing? I mean, it's got a young main character, that's one age group right there... A middle aged dying mother, there's another group... A grandmother trying to cope with watching her child die, that's another... Movies like this don't speak to one audience because they speak to EVERY audience. That's kind of the point of them. I don't know how people can't see that from the trailer. *shakes head*...

Well I know the book is aimed at 12-17 year olds but I agree it has not been advertised towards a target audience. Shame really
