Practical SFX


The SFX team responsible for the effects in 'The Thing' (2011) aim to prove practical effects are still a viable alternative to CGI (I'm not against CGI, but it should be one tool in the SFX tool box).

This is an interesting project (funded by Kickstarter). Look forward to seeing this.

Yes looks interesting although there is only 1 actor cited?

It is likely that Lance Henriksen will be the only 'known' name on this. Other character parts will probably be filled by unknowns.

Actually most of the practical effects they did doesn't got into the final movie The Thing(2011).
Here's a nice interview with Alec Gillis co founder of Amalgamated Dynamics Inc and director of harbinger down.

Ther're shown many clips from stuff they've done for newer movies, which where just amazing but never got into the final versions of the movies.
