Spanish dialogue

Just watched this movie on Netflix and have a question regarding the Spanish dialogue. On Netflix it wasn't subtitled and I understand that there are movies and TV shows that sometimes don't subtitle foreign dialogue when it is not important or the viewer can simply fill in the blanks (or the characters basically repeat what they said in English straight after, worded slightly differently). However, there were many scenes in Sicario where the Spanish conversation seemed important, such as the scene between Alejandro and the lawyer he meets in the army base by the water cooler - it seemed as if I missed a deeper meaning to their interaction and past relationship by not being able to understand what they were saying to one another. A few other scenes as well such as Alejandro talking to the corrupt Mexican cop at the end of the movie.

Watching on Netflix now. Came here to see if others had the same problem. Was the theatrical release subbed?

Just watching on Netflix and subtitled. Yes water cooler conversation was important and was subtitled on version just watched. Strange how not for you. U.K. Version of Netflix.

If you enable the English subtitles for the whole film, it reduces all Spanish spoken scenes to *Speaks Spanish*

A shame that you cannot have them both on at once.

I've just finished watching this on UK Netflix and was a little disappointed that there were no subtitles for the Spanish parts. When I watched this at the cinema in France last year, everything was subtitled.

Just watched it on Netflix (UK) and it had none english subtitles by default.

The water bottle scene, and everywhere I felt it should have a translation, had one.

Remember Netflix works is basically an app, so maybe it's out of date?

Just watched it on Blu-ray and the subtitles were hard-coded into the picture, as far as I could tell (ie not generated from a vob stream by the player), so it's strange that Netflix omitted them.
