Whats up with the mexican cops family scenes, to serve the ending??

To humanize him (not everyone involved in the drug trade is a violent psychopath), and to emphasize the effects of the cartels on future generations (kids' soccer match interrupted by the sound of gunfire).

Oh...thx man, kinda thought it was just used to let the audience feel the cop death and ending, I mean typical cheap 'hey he got a 2 mins screen time now cry for him' scene
