She isn't useless, she is the moral vehicle for the audience into the world of wolves.

I thought she did a decent job but I felt they didnt give her a real reason to be on her moral high horse. Two cops killed, a house full of dead bodies, they asked her if she wanted to help get the real people behind the killings she says yes and then spends the rest of the movie acting like a babe in the forrest. Even in the escort shootout she acted like it was wrong to defend themselves. And her and her partner are acting like being nice people will save the world. SOmeone has to stand up and fight evil by being evil whether we like it or not.
