"TV Movie"

The IMDB page says "tv movie" which makes me think it's a one shot.

The announcements said Amazon pilot which makes me think it'll be a series.

Can anyone shed some light on how Amazon's original work usually goes? The media tone on this makes it sound like a big deal, so is it a deal, or just a prospect hoping to be picked up?

Pilot under production are called movie. whether they are on streaming services or on regular TV network . They are callled like that because they may or may not be picked up . The pilot which are picked are then turned into tv series . The pilot which are not picked up remained listed as TV movie on IMDB

Amazon pilot season is very different from what TV networks pilot season was few years ago . Instead of letting those knucklehead TV executives choosing their favorite pilot , Amazon give viewers a choice to pick its pilot for TV series.

Amazon order many pilots . It premieres all its pilots generally twice a year. It is called as Amazon pilot season . Earlier it was only once a year (around end of Octobes) But if I remember correctly there were some pilot premiered in Feb/ March also last year.

Anyway a number of pilots shows are premiered during pilot season (around end of October) on Amazon prime. Based on viewers response those pilot are picked up for series .

I don't think TLT's pilot is ready for March release. So I think the pilot will premiere on Amazon prime in late Oct/Earlier Nov. Based on viewers response it will be selected or rejected for TV series . The positive thing about that is very few pilots of Amazon have been rejected in past and most of them were selected for full TV series . Any pilot with few big names are generally selected . I hope TLT will bring some big names for its pilots so that it can be easily selected for full TV series

thanks for the info. I knew how regular tv pilots worked, but wasn't sure about amazon. so if I'm already a prime member, how do I find out the date it'll play? also, how many eps do amazon shows generally run per season? are they similar in length as traditional network series?

thanks.
