Finally Watched This - Here's What's Wrong With It

1. Sophie Turner.

2. Apocalypse's Horsemen. Apart from Magneto all absolutely crap.

3. Apocalypse looking like Thanos / Generic MCU boss villain.

4. Too much big scale crappy CGI - looked like Black Adam.

5. The weird chuckling from Charles re wiping Moira's memory. Just seemed out of place...

Other than that, it wasn't so bad as I'd been led to believe. The Charles and Eric rivalry / brothers storyline was nicely continued. The final team up to defeat Apocalypse was pretty well done.

If they'd just managed to remove three or four of those point, this would have been more or less up there with the previous two films.

Have you seen Dark Phoenix as well?

That's next for us - will Be interesting to see if it's a step back up or further down...

I'm a massive X-Men fan and unfortunately, Dark Phoenix was disappointing.

Did you find it worse than this?

I wouldn't say I was a massive fan - seen the original trilogy at the time, caught up with the reboot-ish ones on TV. But been going through them all with FootOfDavros Jnr at the moment and they've all been pretty decent I'd say - including both Last Stand and Origins (which I've seen some like to pan).

So we came into watching this, having read previously it wasn't so good, not really knowing whether to take that onboard. In this case though, it's probably fair - not as bad as some may have claimed but definitely not as good as First Class or DOFP.

Sadly, yes - it was a bit of a damp squib and an anti-climax to the series.
