YouTube trailer review
Eh...This is only my opinion from only two views, but I guess it's not going to be a better experience than the last four Transformers movies. The movie looks pretty much the same style as the other Transformers movies with:
- Sweaty people running great lengths
- Robots wailing on each other
- Well-done special effects
- Lots of explosions
- Fast-paced car chases
- Oversaturation of colors
- Occasional lens flare
What I did like was:
Anthony Hopkins' Narration throughout the trailer elevates it to a slightly better level for me, mainly because of his gravitas and powerful voice. The medieval and WWII shots are okay also and I like the part about 'No sacrifice, no victory' which is a nice little nod to the first trilogy of Transformers films by Bay.
Okay, now for what I didn't like.
Well, as previously mentioned, there appears to be heavy amounts of the same stuff we see in the last four Transformers films as well as most of the same stuff in most CGI-heavy movies these days, well, except for the sentient robots, those are pretty much exclusive to Transformers. You would think that after four critically panned films, Bay and the massive writing team that was assembled would get the hint and shake it up a little, but it looks like the same stuff over and over again.
I thought the music was weird. At one viewing, I thought it was dialogue from the movie, but I think it's just odd trailer music.
What didn't surprise me at all was the end of the trailer where Optimus seems to impale Bumblebee in the face with a blade. I saw a quote here on the quote page of this part of the site with Optimus saying 'I'm Coming for you, humans', which led me to think that Optimus has gone bad like Sentinel in Dark of the Moon. Of course, he could have also found the Creators and been reprogrammed by them to be the next Lockdown, but then why would he say 'Forgive me' as he was about to kill Bumblebee and Cade?
I will have to wait for more trailers and more information, but I think this is going to be a typical Summer popcorn flick and nothing special or ground-breaking, which is sad for me because there was a lot of writers working on this one instead of Ehren Kruger. Here are my predictions regarding the film:
- It will make back its budget and probably reel in the Billion dollars.
- Probably will fall into the 5 to 7 star range here on imdb.com
- And more than likely have a 175 to 180 running time.
Anyway, this is all my opinion. I am not trolling. I am just saying what I think.
