I don't know why Megatron is even in this. He became Galvatron. Do they really need to retcon it? Did Michael Bay just think AGE OF EXTINCTION was too out of formula, and wants to go back to basics? What would be interesting is if both Galvatron and Megatron co-existed and fought each other. I think that happened in the comics.

Hugo Weaving trashed the films in an interview (despite never having even seen the films) which obviously rubbed Bay the wrong way.
"Do you ever get sick of actors that make $15 million a picture, or even $200,000 for voiceover work that took a brisk one hour and 43 minutes to complete, and then complain about their jobs? With all the problems facing our world today, do these grumbling thespians really think people reading the news actually care about trivial complaints that their job isn't "artistic enough" or "fulfilling enough?" I guess The Hollywood Reporter thinks so. What happened to people who had integrity, who did a job, got paid for their hard work, and just smiled afterward? Be happy you even have a job - let alone a job that pays you more than 98% of people in America."
Bay's right. Real dick move on Weaving's part. Plus he did it three times. You don't take the same job three times, which payed you insanely well, and then act like you're above it.
Same with being Red Skull.

shareYeah Weaving has become very snooty about his roles in popcorn movies (which is what he's most famous for). I think post-Agent Smith he's probably been offered every bad guy in every blockbuster since and he just doesn't value them.
shareAnd yet he still keeps taking the roles. Kind of annoys me how he keeps taking these roles then just trashes them. Can udnerstand maybe needing to settle for a blockbuster role every now and then for bigger paycheck but don't complain about it afterward everytime.
shareDude was GREAT in Hacksaw Ridge though !!!! He killed it. Great actor.
