artifact he is looking for is the dead matrix
the dead matrix is an object that can kill Primus. its my hypothesis that he didn't find the remains of cybertron but Unicron. Unicron revived a weak optimus using dark energon thats why his eyes are purple. as people might know dark energon is purple. he revived optimus as Nemisis Prime and sent him to earth to find the Dead Matrix so that he can plung the dead matrix into Unicron and repair him after which he can then take the dead matrix to where ever his twin brother primus is sleeping and kill him before devouring the universe
