How does Michael Bay keep getting good actors in his crappy movies?

I watched yesterday the trailer for this movie, and cringed the first moment I heard Anthony Hopkins talking. My first thought was "What the hell is he doing in this movie?!".

Just how much money is the company paying to these actors to star in this movie. Am I expected to believe that any of the actors such as Hopkins, Josh Duhamel, Mark Wahlberg, Scarlett Johansson, Ewan McGregor joined any of Bay's movies because they believed he has some visionary qualities? It must have been big pile of cash for them to get humiliated by staring in TF, and other Bay's movies like The Island, and Battleship.

Money talks not disgruntled posters on IMDB.

Bay did not direct or have anything to do with Battleship.

Why do I keep hearing around the net that he's producer of Battleship? Must have been misheard then.

The last two Transformer movies grossed over a billion dollars. It's not everyday that an actor gets a chance to appear in a billion dollar movie. These movies are shown all over the world to all different types of audiences. And yes I'm sure they get a hefty paycheck as well.

Michael Bay knows how to run a set. I'm guessing it's kind of exhilarating for an actor.
