What the hell is the plot???

Trailer seems everywhere and no where. What is the plot?

Best I can assume. Something happens to Prime in Space. And he's ressurected by Unicron Megatron to Galvatron style infused with Dark Energon to corrupt him. The Autobots find out about this and search for the only weapon in Transformers kind that can fight Unicron (I'm guesing) with the Matrix on his side, the Star Saber which is probably Excalibur. Along the way, they're joined by old and new allies, and hunted by Unicron, Optimus/Nemesis, Decepticons, and a new Anti-Autobot faction. They defeat Unicron (for now) by bringing Optimus out of his control I'm sure, but unicron flees into space. And there's probably some foreshadowing the fight with him is not over and since Hot Rod is there, foreshadowing he will become Rodimus in the future.

That seems to be what it looks like to me. Or at least how I'd work it if I was writing a movie with all these elements.

Seems possible. Though I hope the Quintessons play a bigger role this time. The last movie set them up, so I'd hate for them to be forgotten.

Maybe Primus will be in TRANSFORMERS 6. I'm not sure if the recent cartoons ever included the character, so I'd like to see Primus and Unicron in the same movie for once.

If I were writing it, I'd have the Quintessons in it and "kill" Optimus leading to the Unicron resurrection. Then I'd leave them alone for the rest of the movie. BUT post-credits sequence reveals them to be under the control of Liege Maximo, who I'd kind of merge with Alligned's Quintus Prime. Except unlike Quintus who CREATED the Quintessons I'd rather that they created him. And then he was just so pure evil and powerful, he went on to rule over/control them. And is the true, real threat. Leading to two insanely formidable villains to succeed Unicron in the sixth film.

That's just my thoughts though.

I wouldnt mind if that was the actual plot.

These movies don't really have a plot. That's why they turn out so bad.

Hyperbolic nonsense!

Mad Max: Fury Road is considered one of the greatest action films of the past decade, and what's it's plot? Imperator Furiosa, a rebellious servant of Immortan Joe, a tyrannical dictator in a post-apocalyptic wasteland rescues a group of girls held prisoner by him and drives them across the desert to reach a safe haven. While on the way she encounters fellow escaped prisoner named Max Rockatansky and reluctantly allows him to go with them, and they all work together to fight off Immortan Joe's soldiers (or "War boys" as they're commonly known) through a wild vehicle chase.

Now let's look at Transformers: Age of Extinction: Following the destruction of Chicago in Transformers: Dark of the Moon, people have become increasingly paranoid over the presence of the Transformers, who have completely disappeared from public view, the government has told everyone that the Autobots are being sheltered while the remaining Decepticons are being hunted down. But the operation is being lead by a rogue black ops group called Cemetery Wind, lead by a crazy CIA agent named Harold Attinger who believes the world will never be safe until all the Transformers, good or bad, are dead. And as an added bonus, he's using their parts as a means for humans to create their own Transformers in order to revolutionize national defense and keep the world safe from future threats. Meanwhile, a struggling inventor named Cade Yeager finds himself caught in the middle as he finds Optimus Prime and gives him sanctuary, now Cade and his daughter are forced to join Optimus and unravel the mystery on who's hunting them and why. So do you mind explaining to me why this doesn't constitute a plot?

Saying that the Transformer movies do not have a plot is an exaggeration but one that alludes to their mostly illogical and incoherent plot(lines) which make those movies seem as if they did not have a plot at all.

Mad Max: Fury Road may have a simple plotline but it works because everything is coherent and mostly logical. The viewer understands why the characters do this or go there. Simple does not equal bad.

A complex plot with several subplots does not automatically equal good. Sometimes these seemingly clever plots make not much sense (e.g. Star Trek into Darkness) and ultimately render the whole story irrelevant.

The aforementiond plot summary constitues a plot but if you watch the movie you realize pretty quickly that the plot the way it unfolds in the actual movie goes nowhere and, in addition is incoherent. Combined with a runtime of more than 160min the movie becomes a complete mess and overstys its welcome.

Bottom line: Yes, there is a plot. Is it a "good" plot. Not if you expect at least some logic and coherence.

Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen aside, the other 3 films have been mostly tight with their narratives. Are there questionable plot elements here or there? Sure, but no worse than what you'd find in most other action movies.
