No casting or plot details yet?

Apparently filming starts soon, and we still have NO idea what this is going to be about. Is it going to be a reboot, sequel, remake? Will Tobin Bell, and Elwes be back? Are they keeping everything a secret? What do you think?

Filming started. And here's a couple of pics, even:

Holy shít. I guess that confirms whether the events of the previous sequels will be canon.

Awesome! I'm glad they're going the sequel route instead of a full reboot. Still hope we get casting details soon.

Wow, where did you find these pictures?

I think I have an idea of what the plot may be. John's dug up grave may mean a Jigsaw cult, or copycat killer may be continuing the games. Hence the 'Legacy' title, so they exhumed his body as a form of religious devotion. What do you think? Still don't know who the 'Elena Jacobs' character is though.

In the original ending of Saw 3D (which was filmed) the entire survivor's group teamed up with Doctor G to bring down Hoffman, which is why they never bothered to film the two pig masked figures taking off their masks. In the original ending the viewer would be able to assume the other two guys were from the survivor's group.

Definitely seem as if it's gonna be a cult / new killer continuing the "legacy", cant see Doctor G digging up John's grave or Hoffman (if he ever got out of the bathroom). I'm personally not too fond of the cult angle, I just think it's a bit out there a cult could develop dedicated to creating these traps.

That'd be an interesting route to go. Although the presence of what appears to be an excavation machine in the set-photo is kinda throwing me off, since that would suggest it was a more "official" matter. (Like maybe the police had it exhumed for whatever reason) Although there's always the chance that was just there as part of the production and was used to dig out the hole before filming...

I don't know if the pics are legit or not, but either way, they're definitely incredibly intriguing. Here's to hoping they'll slowly start to release more information. I've got a feeling that maybe they're keeping it under wraps so as not to spoil to much ahead of time given this will be a big return for the franchise after a number of years.

And FURTHERMORE, this is my signature! SERIOUSLY! Did you think I was still talking about my point?

Good ole twitter. You can also find on there that Donna Evans, the tv show host who interviewed Bobby in Saw 3D, is coming back to die in Saw Legacy.

Personally, I feel like going the direct sequel route is a mistake. It may still be a soft-reboot, but I personally would've kept the references to the original series to a minimum. Most of the sequels to the original were bad, and I feel like a lot of SAW has aged somewhat poorly. Capitalizing on "nostalgia" and people remembering how big the series used to be is a good thing, but this being a direct sequel would probably prompt a lot of people to rewatch the series, which may not be the greatest idea for this movie's commercial success. On top of that, I feel like the standards for quality of mainstream horror movies have raised dramatically over the past 5 years or so. Thanks in no small part to James Wan himself. I think Saw Legacy needs a fresh rating on RT to succeed, whether that's fair or not. It's not 2006 anymore.

I do think the Spierig Brothers are a good choice, and the extended filming and post production schedule are good signs, but there's not much else to rejoice over.

Damn, could you give me a link? I didn't find anything about Evans. XD

Not sure where the filming pictures came from or where he got the info of her dying in Legacy but she definitely hints at coming back in this tweet.

For the Donna Evans thing, the whole thing about her dying in it is kind of an assumption, but back in 2011 she tweeted that she'd love to die on screen in the next one, and Oren Koules liked the tweet. They've been friends for years as she's a sports news anchor up in Canada, and Oren has a passion for hockey and owned an NHL team. There's also a more recent tweet stating she'll be "the star of the next SAW". I don't think they truly meant she'll be the star of it as in main character though, they were just joking.
