Has the longest post production period.

If anyone has noticed, the other seven movies were filmed and released in the same year. With this one however, they finished shooting it this month and won't release it till October of next year. That's nearly a year of post production work. I wonder of that's any indication of what the movie will be like.

Usually this means that there is a lot of CGI to be done... I really hope that isn't the case here :/

or they have a massive tax bill to write off before the end of the year?

Damn. Now you have me worried.

I really wouldn't worry about CG. I'm about as positive as can be that it has nothing to do with it. I'm sure it mostly has to do with scheduling of the cast and crew they wanted (the Spierig brothers are shooting another film in the period of time Saw movies normally get shot). Wanting to cram spendings into this fiscal year might be a factor for Lionsgate too, but this isn't the type of film where the production gets the lion's share of the overall budget, I'm sure next year's marketing budget will exceed the production budget. They probably also want to make sure they get this right, and wanted more time so they can bring the series back properly.

I wouldn't worry too much about it, in the past the sequels basically would start up right after they got the official renewal for a sequel from lionsgate. So basically they couldn't even start working on the sequel until November. Then they would iron out the script for the next few months and start shooting in Feb-March. This time they basically had a while to write the script and I'm assuming just based on time they were able to start shooting right around now. The thing with the Saw films is that they always premiere around Halloween so filming it now means that we have to wait a little less than a year. It was only a little less before because they had to wait for the previous films box office in order to know if they were doing another one.
