When will this board get popular?
Hope it's soon
shareMost people don't even know this movie exists, so I'd say we'll see an uptick when it gets formally announced by Lionsgate. Then we'll get upticks with each new marketing beat and asset release. Not sure when Lionsgate plans to announce this one, but I'm not expecting anything until July 2017 at Comic-Con. Though I do think they would benefit from announcing it earlier, because people need to get reacquainted with the franchise. Announcing the film formally very close to release could make a big impact, but Saw Legacy could benefit from the competition getting out of its way, and from a longer build-up than previous films. Saw 1's 10th anniversary re-release proved the series doesn't have the gravitas it used to have, though that release's failure was of course influenced by other factors.
In all honesty, I just don't want to expect anything until July because I don't want to set myself up for disappointment. But if you ask me, I think they're probably editing the film right now and already brainstorming ideas for a trailer.
I was hoping that given how much of an event film this is going to be, we would have heard some more formal news at this time in order to build hype for the return of a now-iconic horror film series that was a big part of a lot of people's lives for seven years. Even if it was just a couple more formal announcements or a few set-photos. Supposedly filming is already done from what I've gathered and they're probably editing it as we speak. Most everything we've heard has just been a lot of speculation or outside sources reporting on things and very little "official" news.
There all a lot of people who don't even know this film exists, and I only found out because I stumbled onto an article about it while reading something unrelated. That fact that I'm a massive fan of the series and had no clue it was coming out until I accidentally stumbled onto it is probably a good indicator that many other series fans and general film-goers also don't know about it. I'd expect people to start slowly trickling onto the board over the next six months or so, and whenever we finally get some major news (like a trailer or casting), there will probably be boosts.
And FURTHERMORE, this is my signature! SERIOUSLY! Did you think I was still talking about my point?
It will now I have replied.....
Game on!
