What I find funny is i remember YEARSSSS ago people were hoping and praying and waiting for Dr Gordon to return and when he finally did people are like "i hope he doesn't return in 'legacy'... seriously?
Saw CANNOT continue if Dr Gordon isn't in it unless they start off a whole brand new story with new characters and a new jigsaw. If there's one thing we've learnt from the saw franchise is that its one big gigantic story (love sequels with regular characters), so yes Dr Gordon will and should be in it and if they make more sequels they have to use him as there is no one else to carry on jigsaws work

It's almost as if the fan base is composed of more than one person.

The Doctor G twist was a ridiculous ass pull by Marcus and Patrick who decided to let fan fiction become reality because they didn't have the ambition to come up with their own ending for the series. Honestly this new series can do without Doctor G and seeing how convoluted the original series got, it would be best if they distanced themselves as far away as possible to start things fresh.

The original ending of Saw 3D (which was shot) reveals that Doctor G teamed up with the survivors to take Hoffman down. It would've ended with all of them standing outside the bathroom saying "he helped me" after Hoffman is locked inside. Not sure if that's to be taken as canon or not but I'm guessing Legacy will be taking the cult angle. Not a fan of the cult idea myself, it seems ridiculous to me, but we'll see how things pan out.

I wont lie you do have interesting points and probably the two helping dr gordon in end could of been daniel mathews and officer riggs for all i care (actually that would be interesting lol)... anyways, if saw legacy goes in a new direction thats fine but it HAS to continue the storyline.
The saw franchise isnt old enough for a remake, its not distinct to where they csn make spin offs or new stories based on new characters, its SAW!!! saw movies are about the blood and gore, the famous twist to each chapter, and the CONTINOUS storyline- DR GORDON needs to be in the movie and is the only one fit enough to carry on johns work especially after showing his involvement from the beginning.
Dr Gordon was ALWAYS goinh to be the end surprise of the saw franchise but they made us wait while they pump out more sequels. It was the only way to end the franchise whether we expected it or not. If the franchise ended without the explanation of dr Gordon... there would of been sooooo many pissed off fans lol
I see Legacy as a sequel where Jigsaw is being used in flashbacks giving dr gordon instructions, showing him his work, acting as a secret team then gordon will pick his own targets. OR, it will be a one off movie about some new dingbat who is inspired by jigsaws work and goes out on his spree targeting his own people abd putting them through test.
Anyways obviously no one knows what will happen until the movie comes out but personally i would LOVE to see dr gordon continue out the work
They aren't completely ignoring the original series since Tobin Bell is coming back (for excessive flashbacks, no doubt) and part of the story is that Jigsaw's corpse is dug up. Whether or not Jigsaw will be the only returning character, we'll have to wait and see.

Sure, they had to answer Doctor G's fate but there was no need to have the series end with the revelation that he was working with Jigsaw. Why even have him working with Jigsaw? Why not just have him as a survivor? Rather than ending the series in a completely unexpected way we sat through the entire series just to see it end the way everyone predicted it would end six years ago.
As you can probably tell I'm not the biggest fan of Doctor G (or the cult), I would personally like to see them do something fresh and introduce a completely new villain.

I am very frustrated with the way they brought back Gordon as well. I'm not really mad he was working with Jigsaw (tbh I think we all knew that was going to happen), but I am mad that they chose to only have him appear in pretty much a cameo, rather than in full with an explanation. We didn't need the big stupid story of Jill going into police protection.
There's that guy posting on this Message Board - can't remember his name but he seems to have access to some behind-the-scenes info that got corroborated by set photo leaks - and he claims that Ryan might even be the new Jigsaw.
I think it would be cool to have Dr. Gordon to carry on the Jigsaw series, but Cary Elwes would never do more Saw, despite the fact he hasn't been doing very much.
I had this vision of Dr. Gordon dying of cancer just like Jigsaw and he hands "someone" something saying "this is John's legacy. You are his legacy. You must continue his work" he finally dies and we learn at the end who he was talking to and who he's passed onto. Maybe even have some flashbacks of him and Jigsaw behind the scenes of the other Saw movies explain exactly how he he turned to Jigsaw's side. Sources tell me that one of the reasons he went to Jigsaw was because his wife left him after the events of the first movie.
I just wanna state for the official record that I liked Dr. Gordon being the last Jigsaw accomplice, but yes, I think it could've been explained better.
