They are trying to make a R-rated movie into a pg-13 show. I don't think this is a show that can succeed on basic cable. It needs to be on cinemax or full time on Netflix. There it can be more gore-y swear and have nudity. Basically push the envelope which they really cant do now
yeah but it's on basic cable, which means they can't have swearing and nudity. The difference is with those other networks (add Netflix as well) you need to pay so they can. It may have a TV-MA rating but the content is limited, not like the shows on those networks and if the show wants to have the same tone and content as the film then it should be on one of those networks.
I actually remember catching episodes of The Shield on FX and remember seeing some sex scenes and also hearing them use the S-word on a few episodes. However, I am not sure if they cleaned stuff up, but then again, that show was TV-MA. However, I usually watch episodes of From Dusk Till Dawn through Xfinity On Demand. I am not sure if there is a change in between the version shown there and on TV.
If they air on FX then they do clear some stuff up, you can be as violent as you like, but you can't say the f word or show nudity, that's what I mean. Sex scenes are fine, but no nudity, swearing is fine but you can't say the f word or the c word - the American broadcasting system is so backwards. American Horror Story - hey we can have plots with incest and necrophilia but don't say the f word or show a nipple.
I get the episodes online from Amazon. Maybe the episodes are edited on TV? Because yeah, otherwise this thread makes no sense. There's a ton of swearing and nudity on the show...
This program is specifically designed to be viewed by adults and therefore may be unsuitable for children under 17.
Some content may be unsuitable for children under 17. This rating was originally TV-M prior to the announced revisions to the rating system in August 1997, but was changed due to a trademark dispute and in order to remove confusion with the Entertainment Software Rating Board's (ESRB) "M for Mature" rating for video games. This rating is very seldom used by broadcast networks or local television stations due to FCC restrictions on program content, although it is commonly applied to television programs featured on certain cable channels (particularly premium networks) for both mainstream and softcore programs.
Those ratings mean nothing. Basic cable is just cable. They can and do swear. They can and do show nudity. They can and do have ultraviolence.
El Rey Network is pretty awesome in this regard. They don't censor their content. Other channels should take notice.
This^^ the show is sexy and gory and just i was coming here to ask- since it's basic cable - how did they get away with swearing - cause i heard Seth say "Go *beep* yourself."

Just saw season 2 on Netflix, and there is a lot of nudity, and blood and gore, and language.
It is TV MA. Glad it is as well, otherwise the show wouldn't work. The nudity I can do without, but I am glad that it isn't over the top like Game of Thrones of Spartacus, and well almost every other Stars, Cinemax, or HBO show. They tend to go over board, and get everyone all nude. In here it is with moderation, which is better, and it kinda makes sense with the scenes they have it in.
Since I don't have El Rey, I have to wait till it comes on Netflix, so I am not sure if they show all of this on El Rey, and what the rating is.
The first run episodes on El Rey are aired in their original uncensored form. I forget the rating, but it doesn't really matter nor would it change anything.
If you want the original (unrated) episode you have to watch it on El-Rey; either that, or wait for the bluray. I'm not sure if the iTunes version is censored or not. You'd have to check. But most of the channels that show it in syndication do unfortunately broadcast edited versions.
I feel like season 1, which yeah, mainly was just recreating the movie, was aiming to be more elegant and they tried to cut most of the cussing the movie had back a bit, with only a couple F-bombs here and there. But season 2 was chuck full of nudity and cussing, there was hardly an episode without it!
