Some questions from season 1

Hi,
I watched season 1 a long time ago and I just started season 2, but can't remember some things. If you could answer these questions I'd appreciate it.

1. What made Richie so unstable at the beginning of the season? Was it the knife that he'd been carrying around? Did it drive him to kill all those innocent people? Because in season 2 episode 1 he has this rule against feeding on "civilians". Is he now free of the knife's influence, which makes him have more of a conscience?

2. I remember there being some secret about the night Kate's mother died, something that Kate's dad was hiding from her, but I don't remember what it turned out to be.

3. What happened to all the money the Geckos had stolen? (The $30 million)

1. Richie wasn't crazy due to the knife, he was just crazy and Kisha saw in him that he was the one that could defeat the labyrinth and free her from the TT twister. So she reached out to him using her powers making him see things leading him to her. He got the 3rd eye power from becoming a culabra.

2. Kate's mother was an alcoholic and the dad was hiding it from the kids.

3. The 'money' was actually bonds worth 30 million but they contained the map that would lead the culabaras to the super blood well and feed them for thousands of years. Which is why they were tasked to steal it from the Wilmer Valdirama character (forgot his name) They lost the bonds to the culabaras who used it to find the well. Which led to Kate's 'death' at the end of last season.

I thought the knife had some influence because once the Ranger started handling it he began seeing things also, plus Richie was given the knife by Carlos why if it had nothing to do with anything?

Also Richie only killed the bank lady according to Carlos I'm rewatching S1 and just saw the part where he tells the Ranger Richie's first "kill" was in the motel.

Seems like Richie's insanity is due to Kisha because everything that was making him nutty was related to her or the knife, you know Richie didn't start talking to a figment about baseball or anything or see a clown riding an elephant nobody else saw all his visions were tied to her.

Edit: just rewatching S1E10 and it's Sex Machine who turns out is the serial killer not Richie, forgot this part myself.

Didn't Richie also kill the sheriff in the first episode?

Yeah but that's why I put "kill" Richie had killed before her but the bank lady was Richie's first kill for Santanico, he killed like 4 people just getting out of the bank including two rangers then ranger McGraw and I don't recall if it was Richie or Seth who shot the clerk in the store, but the first and only ritual killing Richie did was the bank lady, the rest were Sex Machine.

Kate's mother tried to kill herself. She took a bunch of pills, so Jacob was driving her to the hospital when they got into the car accident that killed her. He didn't want the kids to know she was suicidal/depressed.

Richie was doing everything just for Santanico in Season 1. In Season 2, Richie was all about power although Santanico was technically still his girlfriend. The big change in fact came from Seth. He was initially all about money and he always speak bad about Santanico but his action prove otherwise. He drop the money to save Richie because she ask him to do it. He killed his girlfriend because she tried to freeze Santanico to death. He dropped millions again because she was asking him for help. He said he didn’t care about her but he was the one who help her kill her enemy and freed her at the end. He stayed on to help Richie because she told him to do it.
