Which Gecko brother is older?

The first time I watched this series I was under the assumption that Seth was the older brother, probably because of the way Seth acts toward Richie along with the fact that D.J. is older than Zane in real life.

But I'm on my second time through now, and I noticed in one of the first couple episodes Freddie mentions that Richie is the older of the two, which was a surprise to me. Also in an early episode a police report on the radio mentions that both brothers are "in their late 20's."

FDTD wikia says that Seth is older, and mentions that the two are only a year apart.

Long story short, does anyone know which brother is actually meant to be older? Or how old they're supposed to be?

The Showrunner Carlos Coto said their ages are vague on purpose and that revealing it will spoil future plot lines.

His exact tweet was:

"as for Richie/Seth ages, they are "Irish Twins" haha, and people get it wrong. It's vague on purpose #thatsallIcansay.

Thank you! Another show I watch had a similar situation so the thought did cross my mind, but I hadn't been able to find anything about it.

I just wonder why they ever mentioned Richie was older in the first place, perhaps it was just a slip?

which show has a similar age thing? I need to watch smth with hot brothers while the fate if this is being decided lol

Oh, sorry it's not quite the same. I meant it was a situation where the show runners intentionally withheld a character's age in case they wanted to move something around down the road. It was Once Upon a Time, the question had been if Belle was 17 when she made the deal with the Beast (Rumplestiltskin.)

But if you're looking for a show with attractive people, I'd definitely suggest the 100!

Seth is older than Richie by a year
