Why is Wendy not a main character? Is this racism maybe?

From what I remember...Wendy had a main role in this story. Why doesn't she have a main role in this movie? Hmm....
Is it because the girl who plays Wendy is a minority character?

I'll bite.

A: Wendy doesn't show up in this movie. Presumably her scenes were cut.

B: This is not a story about Wendy Darling and Peter Pan, the story everyone expects. This is more an origin story about how Peter discovered who he was. Also presumably, this takes place a couple years before he meets Wendy.

I thought the same thing. When growing up, all of my peers and I watched the story that surrounded Wendy and Pan. Even Peter Pan II shows the story of Wendy's daughter. After watching the previews of this film, I was disappointed. More so disappointed for Leni. I feel like Leni Zieglmer is really *beep* in this film.

Whites are quick to cry that minorities overexaggerate racism. My thing is there is a clear double standard. While it is fine if whites are incorrectly cast as minority in many major productions throughout film history, it is an outcry if a black girl play the role of a white one.

Let's not forget about a Native American being played by a white girl in this film. However, it is an issue for Leni to play the role of Wendy.

wrong. Tiger Lily in the original story was a member of the Pickaninny tribe. which mind you is not a real tribe its a tribe created for the original story and mind you they were not supposed to be native american's they were supposed to be a racist caricature of Black children

Pickaninny is an english word which refers to dark-skinned children usually of African descent or a racial caricature thereof.

do yourself a favor and google Pickaninny. its only modern versions of peter pan that has native american's as the Pickaninny

reply

You know it was a prequel right? Why would you assume that Wendy would be in the movie at all?

reply

This is before Wendy ever meets Peter. Obviously.

Peter and Wendy were always white.

Tiger Lily should have been native american. If this is the racism you are talking about. Maybe you have a point.

But the way you wrote it sounds so racist towards white. I found it ridiculous.

Especially because you can't tell that this movie is the origins of Peter Pan. Not when Peter meets Wendy.

And there were people of different ethnicities in this movie.

Your racism is more about racism against whites.

I believe in multicultural casting, but it has to make sense. Expecting the leads to be cast as multicultural only works on modern stories. Not in something like Peter Pan.

More people of ethnicity need to get into positions that could make a change. And they have to have the perseverance and courage and peacemaking skills to make it happen.

The way you ranted, gives me little hope for minorities.

reply

actually Tiger Lily was a pickaninny which isn't a native american

Pickaninny is an english word which refers to dark-skinned children usually of African descent or a racial caricature thereof.
