So the only African American character had to die? Typical horror movie
Just a humorous observation
shareJust a humorous observation
sharei was upset that the only person (innocent) that died on camera was the only black person. even the priest who got a puddle of blood near his head, survived wtf

Horror Movies where a black person survives:
Deep Blue Sea
House on Haunted Hill (1999)
13 Ghosts (2001)
Anaconda
The Craft
I Still Know What You Did Last Summer
Gothika
Snakes on a Plane
When a Stranger Calls (1979)
The Thing (1982)
I Know Who Killed Me
Devil’s Advocate
The People Under the Stairs
Scream 2
Demon Knight
Saw VI
The Cave
The Faculty
The Silence of the Lambs
Stigmata
Halloween: H20
Halloween: Resurrection
A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors
Se7en
Urban Legend
28 Weeks Later
Mindhunters
Also note that you can not kill L.L. Cool J. He is INVINCIBLE.
At best, both MacReady and Childes died at the end of The Thing. At worst, one or both was infected.
shareAlso, while Kincaid survives Elm St. 3... he was killed by Freddy in part 4.
shareKincaid dies in the next film, yes, but he does survive part 3. And obviously the ending to the Thing is ambiguous, but you still see both men alive at the end, even if you presume that they'll die and or be infected, it's never stated so I think it still counts. Also thought of a few more, all zombie movies oddly enough.
White Zombie
King of the Zombies
Dawn of the Dead (1978)
Dawn of the Dead (2004)
Dead '04 is another ambiguous one. During the end credits they're all presumably eaten by the island zombies.
sharewhat is your point? wow about 30 movies out of over 100 years of horror , with token characters. and fyi the guy from night on elm street was killed off in the 5th film FIRST. the guy from scream 2 had like 5 lines.
i've got feelings too, ya know - inbetweeners
I'm assuming you mean the 4th elm st. movie. My point is you're wrong. The whole "black people always die in horror films" is a myth. Statistically speaking, mostly the victims are white because most of the characters are white.
shareblack people are tokens, and/or die in horror movies. you're pulling straws by promoting movies where black people aren't even the main character, or have no real importance. black people aren't the majority in a cast in mainstream horror. i've even noticed how with black male characters are always single. in the friday the 13th remake, they had the one black guy jacking off while all the white guys were getting laid. and not even just horror movies, but comedies like ''that awkward moment''. both white guys getting laid, one black guy not getting any. are black men that much of a threat that you cant show them in a positive light in mainstream horror, without stereotypes? even actors like denzel only get praise when they play negative stereotypes. you sound like one those fanatics who were praising FROZEN for having only white characters, even though there is proof black people have always been in europe
mostly the victims are white because most of the characters are white. and the survivors and lead characters are white. what your point

Name one horror film with a mostly black cast where the token white guy survives.
sharetales from the hood.
snoop dog hood of horror.
somebody help me
bones (2001)

So, after being given a few dozen examples of when blacks survive a horror film, you're argument that they are only 'token' survivors hinges on you giving LESS examples of whites surviving from a cast of mostly black.
Trust me, that logic made more sense in your head.
'blacks''
and a few dozen? did you even count the movies that were listed? some of those movies the black character had two lines, or were a background character (scream 2). over a hundred years of horror and you want a pat on the back for throwing a black guy a bone? thousands of white dominated horror mainstream and non mainstream and you suspected white supremacist give a standing ovation over black people who only had two lines? GTFO

If Viola Davis didn't give a s#@t why do you?
shareIt's called an agenda. Despite being given more examples of blacks surviving in a mostly white cast, than the less examples he gave of whites surviving in a mostly black cast, he still thinks black characters get treated unfairly.
He's either in denial, or trolling. It's a politically correct band-waggon that he wants to ride to look clever and show he's everyone's fluffy bunny bezzie mate, despite having been proven wrong.
So yeah, it's an agenda!

Despite being given more examples of blacks surviving in a mostly white cast,
once again those examples weren't even examples, since most of those movies, the black characters were barely in the movie, or died in the squeal. you are an idiot
The Craft
I Know Who Killed Me
The People Under the Stairs
Scream 2
The Faculty
The Silence of the Lambs
Stigmata
A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors
Se7en
this is half the list and these were either not actual horror movies, or the black character had 2 lines and then left. also ''people under the stairs'' is another example of a black horror movie where the white lead character survives.
The Craft and I Know Who Killed Me... were not horror movies, and one person dies in the whole movie
se7en isn't even a horror movie it's a thriller about a serial killer

*beep* a myth! Black people always die. Granted there's a few exceptions, but Black people don't survive. Take that *beep* conservative spin *beep* elsewhere.
shareThe Black guy in Scream 2 wasn't a main character. Snakes on a Plane and Deep Blue Sea wasn't horror movies. I believe the OP said typical of horror movies.
shareI think his/her point is--don't be a cry baby.

Yes, but of significance, is that the 'token black person' died through an act of self-sacrifice - making said 'token black person' a hero (or heroine in this case).
I think that if they do kill off the black character in hollywood horror movies, they do, at least, take care to make sure that that person is seen as a good guy, generally speaking.
So put some spice in my sauce, honey in my tea, an ace up my sleeve and a slinkyplanb
that's the thing i've noticed in horro movies. black person is portrayed as being dumb enough to think they're capable of stopping someone like jason or a shark. i saw this one movie (forgot the name), but the black guy got his arm bitten off and then later on tried to fight a damn shark with a stick WTF. there are white characters that always act dumb, but at least they have more white characters to balance it out.
why does a black person always have to die while trying to save some white person? why are all mainstream horror movies full of whites.
not too long ago i saw the movie ''best man holiday'' and actually saw white people (most white men) complaining about ''oh they had a token white guy blah blah blah''. and i'm thinking ''well you have no problem with token black people in movies!''

I'm impressed that in a modern horror a white male survived.
Thanks to the final girl trope the white girl has to survive and because we have to have her be a strong empowered woman we can't have a man survive with her otherwise the film is sexist.
It seems there is an exception to the all men must die in horror cliché.
Because people have been complaining about how the black man always dies first it seems that to bit be called racist black men have the second highest survival rate in modern horror.
But because no-one has thought of combining the racist and sexist argument (note: it isn't racist or sexist against white males) and complain about how black women are also as likely to die as often as black men so that films will go out of their way to not seem sexist or racist at the expense of decent story telling to show how inclusive and forward thinking they are.
It seems for the time being black women in horror is in the same expendable group as white males
at your MRA rant
shareHave you seen Tyler Perry's "That Doll Look Wack yo." ? Like three people survive and they are all black. And the one white guy gets killed in the first scene
shareBLM!
shareAnd she dies in the dumbest way: sacrificing her life to save some idiot family. And it’s crazy to believe that her daughter saved her from dying of suicide only so she can commit suicide to save these random white people lmao
