Whiny Foggy or Psycho Karen

I can't decide who's worse. I'm astonished the writers can make these characters more unlikable with each passing season.

reply

Psycho Karen?
suicidal maybe

reply

Anyone who crosses the street to initiate a conflict with cat callers, by pointing a loaded gun at them, is a borderline psycho.

While they were juvenile and annoying, they broke no laws.

reply

That scene was meant to show Karen was a little on edge.

reply

It doesn't change the fact it was psycho behavior. Normal people, who are a little on edge, don't threaten people with a loaded gun, let alone go out of their way to find someone to point a gun at.

reply

She isn’t normal.

reply

Exactly my initial point.

reply

She is not normal due to the traumatic events in her life, which drives her to the edge a bit harder than most. That doesn't make her psychotic. Certainly no more or less than Matt who also goes after bad guys and sometimes comes close to killing.

reply

The question was who was more unlikable. I'm not certain why you're obsessing on a descriptive term. She wasn't accused of being the medical definition of psychotic. When the term "psycho" is used in everyday conversation, it's synonomous with "crazy" or "unstable" in the same context. If it'll help you focus on the actual topic, replace the word "psycho" with "abnormal".

Many of us have experienced horrible and traumatic events, but we can still behave as if we live in a society and not take it out on strangers.

reply

Fair enough, but I don't consider either Karen or Foggy unlikable. I think Matt has done more questionable things than either of them and I like him too.

reply

its just a one-off thing and she gets labelled psychotic?

Maybe shes having her period at that time.

reply

That was one example, and no one labeled her psychotic. Being referred to as psycho is not a medical diagnosis. If you prefer, crazy, unstable, abnormal, etc., just pick one. Fill in your own adjective. It really has nothing to do with the actual question.

reply

check the title , you started the topic...

anyway both have their reasons so I have no like or dislike for them though I m not too sure if Karen confronting Fisk face to face is brave or crazy.

reply

Yes. I started the topic. Thank you for clearing that up for me. Did you not read my previous reply to you? Have you really never called someone crazy without meaning they're literally crazy to the point of committal? When the word "psycho" is used, it rarely means the literal definition of medically psychotic. And again, if you read the entire initial post, and not just the title, the topic is which is more unlikable. The opinionated labels are secondary at best.

As for her confronting Fisk, I'd choose moronic over crazy (though both fit), and would definitely never call it brave. Did you mean she was literally crazy and it was grounds to commit her without her consent, and to hold her until doctor says she's sane?
