Either as a stuntman or choreographer or something. If you have to ask why then you don't know the history of the long process of this making it to film/tv, yo.
Since he often plays silent characters and covers his face a lot, I could see him playing a ninja-type guy. Master Khan had a ninja assassin so there is that.
Ray Park was interested, to play Iron Fist in an possible movie. Its a shame they dont chose him, or maybe Alain Moussi. But we get an milk-face guy, who doesnt know Martial Arts.
No, its not important. Iam an martial artist and for me its an insult, to see this wannabes trying to be fighters. If i watch an martial arts movie or tv-series, i wanna see well choreographed fights, with real experts, and not this noobs.
Yeah it is. That's a fact of storytelling, not an opinion. That's what the stunt department is for. The actor isn't actually doing the fights. His stunt double is. Nobody is going to care if the stunts look good if the actors suck. That's why most of the big martial arts movies have very little crossover with movies with great acting. There's maybe a handful of guys that are truly great at both.
I see another joker on the news telling me to play the fool.
Well put. As much as I love action movies and martial arts flicks, martial artists don't usually make good actors. There's a reason why the vast majority of Ray Park's roles have had him either silent or barely speaking. It's because he isn't a great actor. Sure, he can portray the silent killer type well. All you need is a guy who can look menacing and pull off a lot of stunts. Jean Claude Van Damme, Steven Segal, Chuck Norris, etc. are all known to be terrible actors. Even Asia can't fully get away with it. I love a good Jet Li movie, but the guy can't act. These guys are better suited for fun beat-em-ups, not for a TV series that is supposed to tell an ongoing story that keeps the audience's attention.
Don't get me wrong, action sequences can be beautiful and convey a number of different ideas. The wuxia genre is proof that action movies can be works of art. The thing is, the artistry comes from the movement of the performers. They're not actors in the traditional sense. No one would expect a ballerina to be a good actor based on dance moves and likewise, no one would expect a martial artist to be a good actor for his moves.
If you guys want movies with good actors, and an good story, then you should not watch action, or martial arts movies. They are for entertaiment, not for your brain.
And if they are true to the Comics, Iron Fist will be an simple revenge Story.
This isn't an action of martial arts movie or show. It's above all else a drama first. Like the shows that came before it. It won't be a simple revenge story. Not even the comics are. There's so much backstory and lore and alien culture to explore. This isn't and never was going to be a run of the mill martial arts project.
