Iron Fist to "take a hard look at the 1%"

http://www.cbr.com/loeb-describes-iron-fist-as-a-very-hard-look-at-the-one-percent/

Dare Devil took on corrupt justice system.

Jessica Jones took on rape culture.

Luke Cage took on street violence and racism.

And now Iron Fist will take on the 1%!

I like this Netflix pattern and can't wait to see what theme punisher and defenders take on.

Dorothy: Another one to join us on our journey! And what are you missing? Batman: A sense of humor.

Isn't Iron Fist in the 1%?

Heck, I think he is in the 0.1%.

Is he going to pull an Ed Norton in Fight Club and beat himself up?

reply

More likely we'll see a more corporate villain in the Meachums, who's money and influence will probably get them off of any crimes they commit. Maybe even we find out that they faced zero penalties for the accident that created Daredevil, and possibly Jessica, I don't remember if they specified anything about the accident other than there was one.

Daredevil and Jessica were in entirely different wrecks. Matt's happened in Hell's Kitchen and involved a truck crash while Jessica's was out of the city and it was caused by her dad turning to look in the backseat while driving.

As for Rand Corps' involvement, while set photos on Daredevil showed a Rand Corps logo, it wasn't visible on the show, which means, as of now, there are no connections.

reply

I know that. I mean that we don't know if it was another crash involving the same or similar chemicals. IGH is definitely going to be some kind of connective tissue between the shows. I think we assume it was their chemicals for Jessica, since they paid her hospital bills for some reason. But it's not clear for Daredevil, and I see them pulling that revelation in Defenders if it fits.

I got the impression IGH experimented on her while she was comatose.

This is maybe why they've decided to use Zhou Cheng over Steel Serpent(they're far too similar to be used in the same season).

In the comics he sold himself to a demon who hunts and kills Iron Fists and was secretly trying to takeover Rand Industries. A plan he had been slowly carrying out for years before Rand even returned from Kun-Lun.

Perhaps here he discovers The Meachum's corruption and attempt to do the same (takeover) then when he finds out Rand is alive he sells himself to the demon to be able to fight him.

reply

I wonder if anyone can guess what connects all four themes..

reply

Darn those pesky 1%ers! How dare they work hard and provide jobs for everyone. How dare they!
