What was it that Alice asked Lydia about that she had read in the journal? I somehow missed the story.

Something about Lydia doing a scene with someone named Malcolm playing the mormons the husband and wife in acting class
seems that Malcolm had AIDS and died of it because they were talking about that issue before it.

It is never about what happened, it is only how you look at it!

It was a background journal about her and Malcolm (with whom she had a thing as she said to her when in LA). So it was probably something about her and then boyfriend that were playing the parts in the play, something she could have only known from the journal.
