Welcome to Hollywood. 6-7 years too late. A true stoner movie probably won't get made for theaters in a long while. Oh wait Seth rogen has one coming out and we know it will perform well at the box office. Wonder what went wrong other then bad casting??
Bad casting is that real last time i checked the actors played beautifully although the movie didn't do well in theaters it is duing well in itunes it was released one day and it is number 6 now The reasons are 1. Low marketing 2. Wrong rating 3. Competition with 2 other R rated film
Not true about Kristen Stewart. She has grown her fan base and was funny in this film. Loved the stoner tenderness and shocking action in this comedy that seeps in at the right times. Worth it!
Whether they did well or not is debatable. What isn't, is that they couldn't get people in the seats for this movie. It was bad casting because they were a bad fit for the roles, the genre, etc. People clearly didn't want to see these two getting high and playing secret agent. And the movie seemed to have been marketed pretty heavily, from what I saw. I think a different, more fitting, cast would have made this movie more appealing to audiences.
It wasn't garbage! It was a fun action film with loving tenderness between this couple who smokes weed. The low box office was not the cast or story but not the right time, other competition.
In addition to the lead actor being terribly miscast and the lead actress standing around looking like bored kid stuck playing left field in a tee ball game, the plot and tone were all over the place. It seemed like the filmmakers took aspects of all their favorite genres and randomly lumped them all together into a poorly-balanced meandering mess.
