Metal claws don't grow back

Logan had claws in this movie. Weren't they cut off in one of the earlier movies? Metal claws don't grow back!

Maybe that part was erased when they reset the timelines in Days of Future Past? Or Logan just stands on its own in the grand scheme of things, since there are other inconsistencies.

Well he also got them back post The Wolverine and before DOFP and that was never explained but Singer said that it was Magneto who helped him to reform them. And then of course with the timeline reset they were probably never cut off after he got the adamantium treatment

Why would Magneto help Wolverine? It's a cool idea, though.

Because they joined forces in the post credits scene of The Wolverine and in DOFP
