In my opinion, the idea surrounding the masseuse was about communication. She is able to feel what people feel with her hands, as we saw in the scene where she massages Fred and feels his stress. They talk about intimacy and communication, and the scene ends when she says: I never have anything to say. But Sorrentino shows us that she has a lot to say, just not in words. The way she dances and how she looks while dancing, says a lot. In a way, she is the counterpart of Fred: he communicates through music, she communicates with her body.

Good point...she said to him how people are scared of touch...but also others have they soecifics way of communication but they use words...but your right i think

I felt there was also an aspect of perception to her dancing. From the outside looking in she seemed a free spirit dancing without pattern (as if noone were watching) but then we see that in fact she is following the video game in front of her precisely; and then is also seen to have people watching her later.

I thought that says something about how the older generation views the younger (and vice versa) where we can see their liberties and expression from the other side but are not always privy to the restrictions or pressures there.

I'm so glad to see a thread where very interesting points about a film are actually being discussed, instead of the constant "masterpiece"/"worst movie ever" kind of threads. Thanks guys, you've given me much to think about!
