I completely agree.

No it isn't, not by a long shot. While this was no ISOYG, as far as revenge flicks go it wasn't horrible. And as far as low budgets go, there's real rubbish out there that makes this look like a masterpiece.

It actually doesn't feel low budget to me, acting is fairly good, it's all professionally made in terms of cinematics, so the basics are all there but other than that I fully agree that the plot is pretty dull and self-serving. Too bad. The same core story with a more comprehensive moral message and more adherence to classic drama but a lot less pursuit of cheap horror thrills could have worked out much much better.
