The Pirate King ...

Loved the throw away in the final episode about wondering if the pirate king will be joining in the fight and someone calls: "We couldn't afford him!". Of course, he was played by Hugh Bonneville (Downton Abbey) and he commented on the first episode of the season that they paid him big bucks to make the cameo! ๐Ÿ˜€

Yes, it was a good meta joke.

I hate to think what Robert Lindsay cost them. But why cast him/pay him
and have him sing so little?

reply

I don't think know if ever was such a thing as a Pirate King (Captains, sure, but kings?). I think it may have been created in Gilbert & Sullivan's operetta The Pirates of Penzance. I bet Galavant did it as a nice little nod to G & S.

Clearly you've never even heard of One Piece.

No, I have no idea what that even is.

In this scene they give a nice perspective on the title.
