Olympics Has Fallen

Iranian Olympians during the Olympics take the president of Israel hostage during the closing ceremony. They want the Israelis to pull out of...xyz area. They have also taken a bunch of Olympians hostage.

Our hero needs to stop them. He is helped by the various Olympic archery and shooting teams--several are ex military. The US Olympic boxing, taekwondo, judo, and wrestling teams also help.

After the crisis is over, our hero is celebrated at the finishing of the closing Olympic ceremony with the whole world watching.

I have to add that the terrorists have taken out most of the conventional security through poisoning their food.

This would never work. You can't sneak a team of terrorists into the Olympic games as they all need to be registered by the IOC and have photo ID.

Iran convinces some of its athletes to become terrorists....and they slip in some terrorists as support people to athletes....like coaches, assistants, etc.

*Love* the concept!! Especially the part about the various skills of the athletes being utilized!

I think, though, you'd want to set things in motion early on in the Games; many (most?) athletes leave once their events have taken place. Perhaps we see athletes and coaches from various countries sympathetic to the cause being subtly recruited; then - "Four years later . . . " The Event is underway at the *next* Olympics. Our Hero is at a truly distinct disadvantage.

A friend of mine volunteered to work at the Seoul Olympics when she was attending the university where I worked. Her "background check" - to the best of her knowledge, given what she was asked - consisted of my confirmation that she was enrolled there. I don't know the exact extent of her access, but it seems it wasn't significantly limited.

It already happened in the 1972 Olympic Games in Munich. Palestinians and Black September members took over the Israeli dorms. They murdered 11 Israeli athletes. Mossad responded to the attack with the 1973 Israeli raid on Lebanon with Operation Wrath of God, tracking down and killing Palestinians suspected of involvement in the massacre.....only thing missing were the athletes saving themselves with their skills.
