Quit Your Whining...

This movie never presented itself or proclaimed to be a thought-provoking, intricately written treatment of the war on terror. It also never pretended to be a plausible story about an elaborate terrorist takeover of a major city.

That being said, the terror attacks in Paris went on for some time, and the attackers had their run of major public venues for more than just a few minutes. Even in the U.S., the most recent nightclub attack by a lone gunman spanned several hours. So this movie's narrative wasn't ludicrous, just a bit over-the-top in action and story line.

Take the movie for what it was, a fun, entertaining action film serving as mild diversion for audiences.

The movie did at least show how drone strikes leave the U.S. with unclean hands in terms of civilian casualties and of the terrorist mentality that they've been provoked into the violence by U.S. action. Nice speech by the VP Morgan Freeman regarding how doing nothing won't work in the violent brutal world of today.

I do think it was ludicrous to an extent. Ak-47s and other small arms are one thing, but grenade launchers and stinger anti-air missiles are just way too implausible. That and knowing where every single foreign leader is going to be. That said, an attack in any major western city is plausible. I'm gladnthe movie didn't take the PC approach of the 1st movie by saying the bad guys were an asian separatist group. Time for people to identify the enemy. I think that's why the movie got such a low rating. People don't wanna face facts because of their political beliefs.

Well, this is an international arms dealer we're talking about. He's been planning it for a long time. It probably wouldn't be very difficult for him to get a hold of that stuff and smuggle it in. It's what he does for a living, after all.

the most implausible thing is that apparently a large section of the police force, and even the guards, have been taken over by terrorists. how? this is never explained, Nothing is ever explained,

That's because we don't really need an explenation for it. We know that they've been infiltrated. We know it's been planned for two years. Exactly how it was done is irrelevant.

Besides, some of those shot by Banning and his collegues may very well have been actual cops. It's not like they could tell the difference.
