Considering the wedding scenes in Pakistan, the Barkawis didn't come across as Fundamentalists. The Guy was an International Arms Dealer.

They weren't islamic terrorists, though. They were an international crime syndicate, working for an arms dealer who happened to be pakistani. No where in the movie do they say he's motivated by religion. The attack was an act of revenge.

Some of the bad guys may have joined him for religious reasons, but most of them seemed like mercenaries.
