How are the Americans "good guys" in this movie?

You might want to watch your tone or the NSA might be at your door, lol.

I don't think it's meant to be quite as black and white as you're taking it though. It seemed to me that neither were particularly shown as good/bad as the "bad" dude mentioned in the film that [the US] "started this war" or something to that degree.

But yeah, I thought it was odd that the US just straight used a drone to bomb an entire compound with innocents. They even did it again at the end. I'm pretty sure I heard in the radio chatter at the end "civilians confirmed on site" or something like that. Seems like an odd choice - maybe to show the blurred lines? I dunno.

The movie sucked, and really that's all there is to it. Regardless of who the audience deems as good/bad.

Americans regularly murder people, and assassinate political opponents. They also kidnap people and torture prisoners. All of this is of course illegal, but in the "Land of the free" the power and corruption of the state knows no limits. The US government is guilty in real life of every crime shown in this movie. The Americans are not the good guys, they are the villains, and the USA the enemy of the free world.

Now I do realize that this is a movie and I won't claim that these things happen in real life all the time, even though I am sure it has happened.

Americans are always the good guys in movies ive yet to see an american movie like this where they are the bad guys.

Because killing the 1 arms dealer at the expense of 100 innocents will save the lives of thousands of innocents who would have died as a result of him selling arms to other terrorists. Whether you agree with that logic or not, that's how it's usually seen (kill a smaller number of innocents in order to save a larger number).

It's not really that simple though and towards the end one of the terrorists says "we are all monsters" ("we" meaning Americans + terrorists). In real life there are no "good guys," everyone just tries to destroy the other side(s) and come out on top. Unless people are really, really stupid, I don't think these movies are intended as American propaganda that anyone is supposed to "fall for," I think they're just popcorn action movies who choose to set the Americans as the good guys because most people watching them will be American. If it were a limited release in Russia they'd probably set Russians as the good guys, etc.

If you watch the beginning carefully, nobody knew an entire wedding was going on as everyone was inside the tent. The intel just said the target was at that location.

What got me is that it took ONE guy (American) to sort out all the terrorists in the building while the whole group of SAS (Super Army Soldiers...LOL) who are Britain's elite military force just sat with their thumbs up their arses waiting for him to give the order to "press the button".

Can't have the British guys being as heroic as the US guy, can we?!
