2067? This story takes place only 52 years in the future???

So the planet fell out of orbit, the humans created Wormholes, The surface temperature of the earth reached high levels and all the water evaporated, thus killing off the plants, animals and people. So the Humans set off in vast interstellar ships in search of a new home .... but they've been in space for 40 years??? So all these monumental events, including human civilization creating worm holes with particle generators and building large interstellar space ships all happen within a span of only 12 years from now???

No way we'd have such a technological jump in 12 years to do any of that, nor would it be enough time for the earth's oceans to evaporate into space (that is any event that could do that QUICKLY would be so catastrophic that it would immediately destroy the planet and NO ONE would be escaping in ships.....)

I just posted a WTF rant and it's only been the first three minutes.....
