I expected her to get up, smile nicely and walk away. Which is perhaps a bit naive but I don't normally watch this kind of film and I assumed she would appreciate and honour the bargain made with the father. Guess that was a bit dumb.

I think the implication was that Austin mercy killing his father interrupted bargain before it could be completed, hence she's still stuck until she gets her next set of victims. She may actually have honored the bargain before the interruption occurred.

I agree with your take-also the father cuts his wrist early on and bleeds onto or into the Jane Doe which brings to my mind the bleeding onto the Necronomicon in one of the Evil Dead films.
