Enough! No more cat and dog killings in movie plots!!

There really needs to be a treaty against killing cute household pets killed in film. I've been seeing it all too frequently, and it is always gut wrenching. When is it ever truly plot essential?

In this one, the filmmakers even had an easy out, they could have shown the Sheriff's office carrying the living cat away from the scene, thus writing its death off as a hallucination.

If it makes you feel better, there's no reason to assume they didn't hallucinate it like with killing Emma.

What a foolish, ignorant, and hyper-sensitive little fool.

Was baby upset the kitty died?

Suck it up, pansy.

So kill all the people you want, no problem. Just don't kill a pet, got it.

Animals are more important than humans. We have yet to learn this.

reply

Depends on your definition of 'essential' but the point of it here, and in most films, is because we love our pets. When we see someone's pet get killed for no reason other than cruelty, it's MEANT to bother you. It gives you and the protagonist a reason to feel anger and hatred (or fear) towards the bad guy.

Your post, and others on here, kind of prove the point that it works as an effective method to get you emotionally invested in the film in some way...whether you like it or not.

Im pretty sure than animatronic cat didn't feel anything..

reply

If it has a point and builds plot, why not?
It's not real to begin with.

Thumbs Up, Thumbs Down and a Wagging Finger of Shame

Doesn't bother me. It bothers me when people suffer and/or die, not animals. I view animals as fairly inconsequential.

Aww, you poor soft baby.

Piss off Piehole you offended little snowflake. I suppose it's ok to kill humans in horrible gory ways though is it?

You're a dick.
