He cut his wrist on her bone, and the flower poison in her body got into his blood stream, therefore causing hallucinations. He's probably laying in a bed somewhere dreaming the whole thing.

What do you mean what about his son? If he's hallucinating then he's hallucinating everything, including his son.

I felt like that was a red herring, meant to make us think he'd been infected with something.

That's just your made up theory. Nothing in the movie provides evidence that he was hallucinating.

I simply am not there...

The feet of the corpses were dirty as the police put them back in their shelves. If they had been a hallucination, rather than actually walking around, their feet would be clean.
