Main character chemistry?

Saw the trailer, love the premise, and love Hoult. But was hesitant about Stewart in this role. I know her sexual preferences of late have run to the female gender, so can her acting ability overcome that to be believable with Hoult? Chemistry in a romance is everything. Trying to keep an open mind and would like to be hopeful about this, but so far from what I've seen of her, I wasbn't sure if it could be pulled off. Has anyone actually seen it that can comment?

I watched the movie and thought it was great. The relationship was believable. They are both great actors, so even though they had to act with very little emotion, you can see the small glimmers of emotion from both actors and believe that they can and did fall in love.

Stewart is great and the chemistry between her and Hoult is off the charts. Very believable.

Kristen Stewart's performance as Nia is very honest, natural, absolutely believable. I was totally immersed in the movie from its first to its last scene. The story is told in a beautiful, dreamy, nostalgic way. The chemistry between Kristen Stewart and Nicolas Hoults is insane and their acting is simply mesmerizing. Somebody else ( tinkertayler) has written in his or her review that Kristen Stewart is a "compelling actress who shines in the right roles...She is enigmatic. She is magnetic. And she really pours her heart and soul into the role of Nia". I absolutely agree with this, I could not have said it better. This movie took me through a very emotional, somehow palpable journey experiencing together with the characters those firsts of a passionate, honest, deep love and i can not think of any other actress rather than Kristen Stewart to be able pull it in such a natural way. tinkertayler also writes that "While never sexually graphic or gratuitous, the scenes between Nia and Silas are so genuinely raw and real that they manage to make you feel like you're watching something that you shouldn't be. " I totally felt like this, a little bid ashamed of intruding in their love.

Some of the reviews, made it seem like the movie would have graphic or gratuitous love scenes. After seeing the movie it made me wonder if they even watched the movie. The movie was a believable lovely romance. It made me childishly wanted Kristen and Nicholas to be a couple.

She's apparently bisexual, but that has no bearing on her ability to play any character. straight actors play gay characters, gay actors play straight characters, Nice actors play mean characters, etc. That's what acting is all about.

exactly. the op's original post is borderline offensive. consider a straight actor, married, who has to pretend to be in love with his leading lady. he may not even be attracted to her at all, or vice versa and yet talented actors pull that trick off all the time. why wouldn't a gay actor be able to do that? and apparently she did because Kristen Stewart was totally believable in this role.
