Metascore 40 from 33 critics

Only 6 positive on MC. Three real IMDb reviews were 6/6/5.

BO Mojo: Universal and DreamWorks's Welcome to Marwen brought in a disappointing $909k on Friday with expectations for a soft, $2.7 million three-day performance. The film received a "B-" CinemaScore from opening day audiences.

Who Approved This Bizarre Steve Carell Movie? https://www.nationalreview.com/2018/12/movie-review-welcome-to-marwen-bizarre-steve-carell/

Those who complain that studio movies have gotten stale and formulaic, here’s your punishment: The movie begins with a cross-dressing World War II Ken doll who looks like Steve Carell getting accosted by Nazis but rescued by a squadron of gun-toting Resistance Barbies.

The female dolls are sexy, glammed-up versions of women he knows from town. Often they wind up topless. The real women indulge Mark heroically — women who are amazingly forbearing with weirdo men being a Hollywood staple — but, sensing that he’s on shaky ground, Zemeckis throws in what he imagines to be an applause line about how “Women are the saviors of the world.” Please. Save your empty slogans for a movie that doesn’t express a preference for Barbie versions of actual women.

Major flop, might make $10m. BOMojo:

Barely finding its way into the top ten, Universal and DreamWorks's release of Robert Zemeckis's Welcome to Marwen was pretty much a disaster as the $39 million production scored a mere $2.35 million in its first three days from 1,911 locations and a $1,233 per theater average. The film didn't necessarily sit well with the audiences that did show up, receiving a harmless "B-" CinemaScore, which pretty much guarantees this one's theatrical tenure will be limited at best. The film played to an audience that was 52% female and 79% of the overall audience was aged 25 or older.

Dec 26 update: Opening 5-day is $4m, with Christmas at $1.3m.
