Buying complete horror sets...

Just like a Bond set, never count on it being complete.

I bought the set on Blu-ray with all 6 films. Then this one comes along.

I bought the complete Halloween collection. If course Carpenter returns to give his input for the next entry and promises that it'll be the scariest yet.

Another purchase I made is the complete Friday the 13th set, and another reboot is coming.

So yeah... There will always be a more complete set until the next entry comes.

I wouldn't count reboots as part of the 'complete set'. Only the films that are within the same continuity are part of it. E.g. Halloween to Resurrection is one set. Rob Zombie Halloween 1 and 2 are another. If Carpenter's new entry is a continuation of the original films then it would be part of it otherwise it's another continuity. The continuity of Halloween is so messed up anyway that I doubt they would be returning to it .

Only Chucky out of the examples you listed is still not 'complete' because its a sequel so wait until there's a reboot to get the set if you want it complete.

I'm real when it's useful.

I do consider reboots/remakes part of a series. Just because it's not in continuity doesn't mean it's somehow an invalid part of the franchise.

Anyway I don't think it's such a big issue. I mean who really buys a movie set thinking or even hoping there won't be another one just to technically have a complete set? It's silly. You could just buy the standalone BluRay/DVDs then.

Your right to an opinion does not equal an opinion that is right

You're right, but aesthetically I like the idea of having a complete set. It kinda bugs me when I look at my collection, and I see my Scream blu-ray set and Scream 4 separately. I also have Rambo Trilogy plus Rambo. Etc.
