*Spoilers* I liked/felt bad for the Ogre.

To me, the Ogre and Violet's story is a lot like the story of Khal Drogo and Daenerys from Game of Thrones lol. A really barbarous, large male wins a prized female as his wife and takes her as his own. (Tale as old as time eh?) The big difference was that Violet made up her mind NOT to accept her circumstances. Nothing wrong with that, I'm not blaming her. I don't think there's anything spoiled about not wanting to marry an Ogre!

But, clearly (despite the Ogre having little to say about Violet's consent on consummating the marriage), he really did seem to love her and went through hell and high water to get her back. I wish that the story had ended differently; perhaps Violet could have escaped, and the Ogre could have come across another woman, one more willing to be his mate. Win-win. I did feel a lot of pity for him when she pretended to be resigned to come home, and then slit his throat.
