The OTHER Sister (Spoilers)

I was surprised that the two sisters' storyline seemed to be left hanging, unless I just didn't understand it. I had to look up the plot on Wikipedia to check what was supposed to have happened - that the "old looking" sister had herself flayed in the hope of becoming young looking (I misheard the "younger" sister telling her that's how she regained her youthful looks, so didn't really know what her sister wanted the guy in the woods to do to her. I normally use subtitles but there WERE none on my DVD)

So then we see the "older" sister staggering towards the castle, apparently flayed (though she only looked very bloody - I would not have described her as skinned). What happens then? Does she confront her sister?
(By the way, I thought the "old" make up/prosthetics work was terrible - it was obvious we were going to see them transformed).

These were the only less than satisfactory notes in this great movie.

The princess sees her tightrope walker love, restored to life ... we were told that for every life given, another must be taken ... that is why the beautiful sister began to age and lose her position and her king. The flayed sister presumablyturned up to the castle and possibly died ... not everything has to have all its "t"s crossed.
... and only one was transformed.
I loved everything about the movie.

But you ARE Blanche ... and I AM.

Really? So you didn't notice that the actress who plays the sister who is re-juvenated (Hayley Carmichael..who. although I cannot find any record of her actual age looks about 40ish and was obviously made up to look older) was NOT the same actress who played her when she was younger (that was Stacey Martin). Surely you could see it wasn't the same actress???

yep two actresses played Dora. As for Hayley Carmichael, I can't find her age anywhere either!!!!! But, moaning Myrtles voice sure stood out in Imma! This story bothered me so much! I think because of my own vanity. My own older sister and her attempts to stay thin and young with Gastric bypass. I have to workout everyday to keep my figure and she makes more money so she just bought the procedure and had all her skin removed after it sagged. Sorry, I was also bothered by how the King just took and took from every woman but was never happy until he had something he thought, was unattainable. Too many men seem to be like that. so yes. This story touched me and bothered me very much. I still loved it!

That's some uncalled for misandry.

i thought the ending to the sister's tale was disappointingly vague. it was not clear to me what caused dora's reversal, nor do we know what happened to her sister. that is not in keeping with my experience of fairy tales, which usually have a clear conclusion.

I think, yes Imma died. Her sister , I feel did not want to admit to the odd breast feeding by the witch. Instead she claimed to be, "flayed" I took this to mean Dora led her sister to believe she had her skin cut off. So with all of her jewels she begged a "MONSTER" of a human to remove all of her wrinkles with a knife. The voice of the actress, Shirley Henderson", also "Moaning Myrtle" of Harry Potter, left me horror struck as she begged her sister to let her stay and those painful yelps as that MONSTER of a human sliced her skin. I was more bothered by this then any of the stories. No, she didn't live, she did however manage to limp her bleeding and dying body back to the castle where I am sure she died.
