Pope Would of Gone Up in Flames

So Vaughn has been doused in gasoline just a few feet from Pope and when all the drama is over Pope decides to light up a real cigarette next to where the gasoline has just been poured surely he would of gone up in flames!

I thought he was going to have 1 drag and through the cigarette into the gas. As long as there's no direct connection, it wouldn't go up in flames.

reply

I thought that as well.

Actually, given the amount of gasoline that had been doused in that confined area, the built-up fumes, which are much more combustible than the liquid, would have ignited instantly the moment Dog lit the match, causing an explosive eruption of flames engulfing all three men. Pope never would have been able to get a shot off.

This is why a vehicle involved in an accident is more likely to have the gas tank explode if it's only half full of fuel and there's any type of spark or flame.

being that he was dying of cancer anyway, it seemed that he had made peace with the world as much as possible and pretty much saved his soul at the end by becoming a better person.

We never find out what kind of cancer he has but I am guessing lung cancer from smoking being that a recurring theme is him wanting one more cigarette.

I think the cops were coming after him at the end too.

Him having one last cig that causes an explosion that he KNOWS will happen would have been a nice symbolic ending for him and I would have preferred it over him just enjoying the cig.
