Wait, those two helicopter pilots at the beginning, WTH???

So those two soldiers pulled from the downed helicopter that are captured by insurgents, the movie makes us wonder for like two minutes which one will get killed by being burned and which one is more important to be kept alive as a hostage.

But what the heck!?! Didn't they end up killing the white soldier first?! And if that's so then how could he have been used as leverage then if he's Robert Forester's son and he betrays the embassy. Man, that early subplot really got buried by the time that movie was all over...

It feels like a scene in a movie that the producers wanted in and so they shot it last and added it at the beginning or something.

They killed the black one. That scene when he was burning was filmed from behind, so the surviving soldier was Bill's son (now seen on the right).

Didn't you hear the guy holding the dog tags say (on the second set he checked) that he had someone important? That was Bill's son. He didn't kill him; he killed the other guy.
