IMDB reports that the cost of making this movie is $20 million. It's not the best movie I've seen but definitely not that bad either. But to have this many well known stars (I counted at least 4), a large supporting cast and make a pretty decent movie for only $20 million? Hard to believe and great bang for the buck!
shareI thought the same thing when I saw the budget. 20 mill is a very low budget for a mainstream action movie with an all star cast. It featured an all star cast, multi-national filming, tons of on location filming and very expensive looking computer computer sets. not to mention a few small real explosions and a few very good cgi explosions. All for 20 mill? While the movie itself wasn't spectacular. It looked lie a hell of a lot more than 20 mill.
Let us not forget that a decent chunk of a movies cost goes into cast wages on a typical Hollywood production.
So if you do the actors a deal on the backend (Hey Pierce! how about we give you 3% of the gross box office, netflix, bluray sales and $50k upfront?) then you can limit the financiers exposure/budget.
