London. Really?

London is populated almost exclusively with white people, the roads are free of traffic and if you want to go to St. Pancras station you just park outside.

...and hundreds of American Marines are also a regular sight around the US Embassy.

The word 'preposterous' was invented for this movie.

hundreds of American Marines

sniping through the telescopes on their M40A3 rifles the naive passersby just to name them names

That's nothing compared to what was supposed to pass for times square.

reply

wrlord2001 you really are being picky if you think that didn't resemble New York's Times Square. It looked just fine.

I live in NYC, That looked like the secondary streets around Times Square just fine to me. Not enough people around for New Years Eve though. the entire area is busier than that on a regular weeknight. The wide shots were obviously stock footage of Times Square/Ave of the Americas.

Same thing goes for NYC in almost all movies. It's like the casting directors never stepped foot in NYC. The average person on the street of the 5 boroughs of NYC is not white. If they are, they will probably have a Russian or Israeli accent. most people in NYC are Hispanic, Paki/Indian, West Indian from the Islands, Jamaican, Haitian, Asian. The average labor force is almost all Hispanic and West Indian.

I laugh when I watch TV shows Seinfeld and and King Of Queens. Everybody's beaming white.

"populated with white people', sure, but you're including a lot of third-world MUSLIMS, aren't you??

Perhaps London streets have a lot more vehicle traffic now; I haven't been back for some years. However, when I was there, I was struck by just how empty of cars they were. You could jaywalk almost at will, and I stood in the middle of the mall to get a good shot of Admiralty Arch.

I found the same thing in Paris. I couldn't figure out why Blvd. St. Michel was 6 lanes. Every time I saw it - which was fairly often as my hotel was nearby - 2 lanes would have sufficed. Again...a long time since I've been there.

I also found that the average person had no idea where anything was geographically. All directions given were made by way of referencing the underground.

When were you there, 1907? are you the Highlander?

Clearly someone hasn't been to London, let alone London within last few years.

The whole depiction of London was travelogue. St Pancras was presumably chosen because it was recently renovated for Eurostar connections to Paris. Only "Classy" parts of London are shown. The Photographer lady drives a Mini (of course). The only thing missing to make this resemble an Ealing comedy was a bobby on the beat perhaps.

reply

Of all of the plot holes, this was the most laugh-out-loud one: someone drives across London for a rendezvous (never having heard of the tube) and can just pull up outside the door of one of the biggest, International train station in Europe and pootle inside.

reply

That's not a plot hole
