Why wouldn't homosexual sex count? All that is required for the curse to pass on is to have sex with another person. Last I knew, gays & lesbians counted as humans too.
There are many different ways human beings can have sex, whether with same- or different-sex partners; or with oneself, a single, or multiple partners. But I don't recall anybody in the film getting very specific and saying that heterosexual vaginal intercourse was the only 'cursed' form of sex in this case.
