Did the expression on the face of Mars change?
Just rewatched the film last night on DVD. This morning I realized something that had been niggling at me for a while.
The first time we see Clavius praying to the statue of Mars, it seemed to me the expression on the face of the statue is fierce. The second time, after Clavius has begun to believe (or consider the possibility of the truth of events) and has directed his prayer to Yahweh, it seemed to me that the expression of Mars has changed slightly, so now it appears more fearful. Afraid of Yahweh, perhaps?
