shareThey did a really good job on this movie. It was a lot better than I had honestly expected.
shareI haven't seen this film but from the trailers, etc. it sounds a lot like the old movie "The Robe" starring Richard Burton. The book The Robe is by Lloyd C. Douglas, I read it decades ago and enjoyed it even though I'm not a religious person. The book was better than the movie.
I will never let you part, for you are always in my heart: MJ

I'm about to watch "Risen"; to you I recommend "Barrabas" 1961. Good story, and great gladiator action.
shareYes, i'm not at all what you would call a religious person, and i expected to have to turn this film off after 20 minutes or so, but i was so enthralled with it, that it was over before i knew it .. i thought that it was very well done..
share“Risen” is my best movie of 2016 passing “13 Hours”, with 2016 Best actor Joe Fiennes.
Ben Hur, Barabbas, and The Robe are indeed at the top of the best, of the best, movies ever made.
“Ben Hur” Stars: Charlton Heston, Jack Hawkins, Stephen Boyd, and is the best movie picture ever made.
along with:
Spartacus (1960) Stars: Kirk Douglas, Jean Simmons, Charles Laughton…
"The Robe" (1953) Stars: Richard Burton, Jean Simmons, Victor Mature
and sequel:
“Demetrius and the Gladiators” (1954) Stars: Victor Mature, Susan Hayward, Michael Rennie
Also see
Ben-Hur: A Tale of the Christ (1925 silent) Stars: Ramon Novarro, Francis X. Bushman, May McAvoy …Wow, what a movie. An Aussie would say, silent and deadly!
The Last Days of Pompeii (1935) Stars: Preston Foster, Basil Rathbone, Alan Hale
A great must see movie.
Find them all and reflect on what movies in future could/should be again!
I believe every good and religious film (even if you don't share the faith) could be enjoyable by the most extreme atheist if you file the religious symbols and dogmas under the "fantasy" genre, and allow the suspention of disbelief to take place.
Noah is a straight up fantasy genre rendition of a bible story.
With that in mind, I think that The Last Temptation of the Christ is a good film. It paints a very human Christ with several doubts about... well, himself, or at least, his godly part.
Das Jesus Video even introduce a Sci Fi element (time travel) into it
